Well… That seems a little far fetched doesn’t it? It’s not, actually. At this age of technology, mark my words, It’s possible! And it won’t cost you a fortune either!
For a start, what do you need? Telescopic Vision? A DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) funded project by a team of International Researchers have found a breakthrough contact lens prototype that is capable of 3x magnification. This was achieved by using a contact lens and glass system. The lenses let you zoom in and the glasses let you switch from Normal vision to Magnified vision. Not only will it get you one step closer to being a superhero, it has another side to it as well. It could well be a solution for age-related macular degeneration, a leading cause of blindness for older adults. It’s still a superpower! It’s not ready to be plugged into eyeballs yet, it will be. Soon.
So what now? You want to fly? Sure. You can rent yourself a wingsuit – a specialized jumpsuit that increases the wearer’s surface area and can reach speeds of up to 250 kph! That would amount to about Rs. 10,000 a month, not too much for the rich, young at heart person who’d do anything to be a superhero! And, yes, of course, you would love to have an invisibility cloak as well!
Now what more do you want? A memory that lasts forever? You have Superman’s Memory Crystals for that. You’ll have a memory that will never perish!
Now it’s time to suit up. It is one of the most important aspects of every superhero! Lockheed Martin Corp. and Parker Hannifin Corp. are joining a handful of startups to make bionic suits for customers. Though they initially focused on making suits for the army, they have also turned to make bionic suits available for factory workers to lift heavy loads, but you could well get one for your use! Electric motors strengthen the wearers’ limbs to supply motive power. Computers and sensors help provide balance and guidance.
So my estimate is that with less than Rs. 35,000 you can be at least a semi superhero in the next 3-5 years. I’ll leave the final part to you. A name. I’d love to see my reader pitching in with awesome names in the comments section.
